Brown makes pro debut in Vancouver

Eric Brown helped make history on Thursday night.
Eric Brown helped make history on Thursday night.

The former Thunder Bay Border Cats starter joined former UBC Brandon Kaye as one of only two Thunderbird graduates to suit up for the Vancouver Canadians, pitching a scoreless inning of relief in Vancouver’s 2-1 triumph over the Everett Aquasox at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The Canadians are the Toronto Blue Jays A-level farm team. The Jays drafted Brown, who spent last summer in a Border Cats uniform, in the 50th round.

Kaye, who made his debut in the seventh, paved the way for Brown in the eighth. The Thunder Bay native struck out two of the three batters he faced.
