The Border Cats bullpen bobbled a 4-0 lead in Wilmar, Minn., Tuesday night, allowing the Stingers to take a 4-6 win against the Thunder Bay baseball club.

Tuesday night’s game against the Stingers was the first of the season for the Cats, who are now 0-1 in Northwoods League regular season play.

The Bats came alive for the Cats in the second inning, but the team’s offence was kept in check by the Stinger’s pitching staff throughout the rest game.

Meanwhile, the Stingers’ hitters jumped on the Border Cats bullpen to chip away at and eventually take the lead from the Cats. The Stingers most significant rally came in the bottom of the eighth when hitters jumped on Cats’ reliever John Jeanes to score three runs.
Jeanes took responsibility for the club’s loss as a result of that rally.

The Cats must win Game 2 against the Stingers if they hope to win the three game series in Wilmar. That game is scheduled to take place Thursday night at 8:05 p.m.
