Kyle MacLeod and Josh Elvish put the Hawks up a pair early beating Neill Kelley in the Stars’ net, who was making his league debut.

Cole Sheehan would increase the cushion to three 11:10 into the middle frame before Steven Carlson notched a late power play marker to make it a 3-1 game after 40 minutes.

Joe Szura would trim the Hawks’ lead five minutes into the third with another man advantage marker before Mike Mapledoram put the Hawks back up a pair a minute and a half later with a power play strike.

Brandon Wolframe would then take advantage of some extra man opportunities to pull the Stars’ even finishing off the feeds of Patrick Mielke who assisted on both goals.

That would set the stage for Cain to notch the game-winner who beat Jordan George in the Hawks’ net to complete the Stars’ comeback.

Shots on goal favoured the Hawks 43-39 on the night.

Next up on the league schedule sees the Screaming Eagles heading to Nipigon Friday to take on the hometown Elks. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
