Matt Caria had five points on a goal and four assists to lead the Lakehead Thunderwolves to an 8-2 rout of the visiting Guelph Gryphons at Fort William Gardens on Saturday night.

Ryan McDonald added two goals and two assists, while offensively minded defenceman Mike Quesnele potted a goal and had three helpers in lifting the Wolves to a 3-2-1 record.

Andrew Wilkins, who scored a shorthanded marker 43 seconds into the game, Adam Sergerie, Kalvin Sagert and Devin Welsh also replied for the Wolves.

Edward Gale and Mike McFarlane had the goals for Guelph (2-4-0).

Cody St. Jacques was victimized for all eight LU goals in the Gryphons net. Alex Dupuis made 46 saves in a standout performance for Lakehead.

The Wolves are off to York next weekend.
