Molly Carlson continues to wow on the world stage.

The Thunder Bay teenager captured gold in the 16-18 category at an international diving competition in Dresden, Germany.

Carlson scored 441.3 to edge out home-country favourite Louisa Stawczynski by 3.3 points. Ukraine’s Ganna Krasnosshlyk finished third.

“I wasn’t expecting to finish on top,” said Carlson, who doesn’t turn 16 until September, in a release. “It was crazy. I made sure I didn’t know the scores during the competition so I wouldn’t get too excited for any of my dives.”

Canada’s Frederique Lalonde of Montreal was fifth.

Carlson also finished 17th in the women’s A one-metre event.
