Cats come back, earn 8-5 win over Alexandria

The Thunder Bay Border Cats got even with the Alexandria Beetles Thursday afternoon. After a punishing 12-3 loss Wednesday evening to open the Northwoods League season, the Cats evened the series winning 8-5 in Alexandria.

After a punishing 12-3 loss Wednesday evening to open the Northwoods League season, the Cats evened the series winning 8-5 in Alexandria.

After scoring one in the first, the bats came alive for Thunder Bay in the third inning, picking up four runs. They scored another three in the seventh.

They were ahead by five going into the bottom of the ninth when some walks, wild pitches and even a balk from Will Kenny gave the Beetles two runs. He then struck out David Garcia to end the game.

Wes Parsons got the win for the Cats giving up nine hits and striking out five in seven innings. The road trip continues for the team in Rochester before their home opener Monday, June 4 against Alexandria.
