The Border Cats pitcher was rushed into duty Saturday night against the Rochester Honkers, relieving starter Daniel Stoney after just one out was recorded.

Seven innings later, having allowed just three hits and no runs, he’d rescued the Cats (6-5) and earned his first Northwoods League victory.
Jacob Rogers doubled to clear the bases in the seventh inning, the key hit in a three-run inning, as Thunder Bay went on to win 3-1. Reliever Toby Thomas, who took over in the seventh, took the loss for the Honkers (5-6).

The Border Cats, just a game out of first place in the North Division, return home Sunday at 5:05 p.m. for a date with the Waterloo Bucks.They split their four-game road streak, winning once in Willmar and once in Rochester.
