The Thunder Bay Border Cats on Monday salvaged their last hope on a disastrous road trip that pushed them from contenders to also-rans.
The Cats doubled Rochester 10-5, riding homeruns by Andrew Ayers and Patrick Gallagher to the win, snapping an untimely five-game losing streak in the process.
Jerrick Suiter went 3-for-5 with three runs scored a trio more driven in for Thunder Bay (14-16). Garrett Hughes improved to 3-1, allowing four runs in six innings of work.
The Cats have an off day on Tuesday and return home to Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday to face Duluth.
