The Border Cats are weeks away from season nine, and have six more players ready for the opening day roster.

The Northwoods League team on Thursday announced the signing of infielder T.J. Bennett, outfielder Andrew Ruck, catcher Matt Stevens and pitchers Alec Smith, Taylor Bratton and Nate Blankmeyer.

Bennett, a freshman with Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., is hitting .292 with nine doubles and eight RBI.

Ruck, a Whitby, Ont. native who plays at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., is batting .229 with five doubles, three triples and eight driven in.

Another Canuck, Bratton has a 2-4 record with one save and a 4.00 ERA and 43 strikeouts for West Alabama University.

The Cats home opener is scheduled for June 6 against the defending North Division champion Rochester Honkers.
