Brett Kay may not have been the best hitter to don a Thunder Bay Border Cats uniform, but he sure knew how to wield a glove.
The Arlington Heights, Ill. native was rewarded for his excellence in the field, earning the Northwoods League nod at shortstop in the Rawlings Finest in the Field Award competition.
Kay, who hit just .223 and had a .969 fielding percentage.
In other Cats news, second baseman Cullen Mahoney was named to the league’s post-season all-star team, after finishing second in the circuit with a .347 batting average.
