The Thunder Bay Border Cats roster continues to grow.

The Northwoods team on Thursday announced five more signings, bringing their total to 10 players.

Canadian first baseman and pitcher Mitch Bigras leads the latest crop of signees. Bigras will be joined by his Quinnipiac University teammate Matt Palladino, an outfielder.

Also headed north of the border are catcher/outfielder Alan Baldwin and infielders Matthew Batten and Mikael-Ali Mogues.

Batten appeared in 49 games in 2014, hitting .260 with nine doubles and 10 stolen bases. Palladino, a 5-foot-9 native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., hit just .238 with 11 doubles and 13 driven in.

Baldwin, a junior from the University of Hawaii, is off to a strong start in 2015, batting .279 in 15 games with eight RBI, while Mogues, who attends Seton Hall University, hit .310 last season and drove in seven.

Bigras brings plenty of size to Thunder Bay.

The Sarnia native stands 6-foot-5, spent time on the Canadian national junior team in 2013 and made three appearances for Ontario at the 2013 Canada Summer Games, winning once, earning an save and recording nine strikeouts.

He’s in his freshman season at Boston College.

The Cats season is set to begin May 26 at Port Arthur Stadium against the Eau Claire Express.
