Cats snap six-game losing streak in Duluth

The Border Cats six-game slide is in the history books.

The Border Cats six-game slide is in the history books.

Dylan Becker, Tyler Duplantis, Jason Vosler and Kyle Hann drove in two runs apiece Saturday night, while starter Cazares allowed just two runs over seven innings, helping Thunder Bay capture just its fourth win in 17 second-half Northwoods League games, an 11-4 decision over the host Duluth Huskies.

Cazares, an Upland, Calif. native, earned his first victory since joining the Border Cats, improving his record to 1-2.
Thunder Bay took the lead in the fourth with a pair, added two more in the fifth. Then, up 4-2, the Cats erupted for six in the eighth to take an insurmountable 10-2 lead.

The Cats, 1-6 on their current eight-game road trip before the NWL’s all-star break, sent 11 men to the plate in the eighth, chasing reliever Jake Heissler and his replacement, Burke Seifrit.

Vosler’s two-run double was the key blow for Thunder Bay (4-13).

The Cats and Huskies wrap up their three-game set on Sunday. The league shuts down for three days on Monday.
Thunder Bay will be home Thursday when the Huskies trek north of the border.
