Newcomer Joseph Koon pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save on Saturday night, after the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers made a couple of miscues in the ninth that allowed the Cats to score a pair of runs and move to 2-1 in second half play with a 5-3 road win.

Ino Patron scored the winner on a error by shortstop Tyler Wampler and Cullen Mahoney came home on a passed ball.

Casey Selsor tied the game 3-3 in the eighth for Thunder Bay, scoring on an error by 1B Ryan Abrahamson.

John Lally started this one for the Cats, lasting into the sixth inning, giving up three runs on eight hits. Steven Brault, who took over for Brainerd starter Charles Henderson, took the loss.

The two teams tangle again on Sunday.
