Cava claims MVP in Queen's tournament win

Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens forward Michela Cava brought home some additional accolades from the Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase tournament in Hamilton over the weekend, after helping her side claim the championship, as she earned most valuable player honours at the 40-team event that featured nearly 700 competitors.

Cava paced the Queens offensively with eight points including six goals, which put her in a tie among all competing players for the most overall tallies during the course of three-day event, that wrapped up Sunday.

She notched markers in all three playoff round contests the club played including a game-winner while also setting up another.
 
Thunder Bay went a perfect 7-0 in the tournament outscoring their opponents by a 28-4 margin, including five shutouts that featured many of the top midget AA clubs in Ontario and the U.S.

The next tournament action for the Sportop Queens will in Minnesota as the squad takes part in the St. Cloud State Huskies Fall Classic Sept. 24-25.
