The Thunder Bay Chill are threatening to run away with things in the Premier Development League’s Heartland Division.
They continued their march to first place on Sunday, riding a Jose Altamirano free-kick goal in extra time to beat WSA Winnipeg to capture their fifth straight contest and open a four-point lead over next weekend’s opponent, the Des Moines Menace.
The win secured a season sweep over Winnipeg (1-8-5), a team the Chill (7-1-0) outscored 10-0 and was officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.
