The Thunder Bay Chill completed their weekend sweep over rival Des Moines Menace with a convincing 3-0 win Saturday evening.
It took the Chill 17 minutes to find their offensive stride at Chapples Park as Gustavo Oliviera chipped a pass forward that Brandon Swartzendruber easily converted into a goal.

Oliviera’s substitution, local Skandar Babay, made the most of his early appearance and netted the second goal of the game at the 24th minute of the first half.
The second half featured a much more defensive Chill. While Thunder Bay’s soccer club remained disciplined in their formation, emotions did appear to boil over at times. As a result Three players – Jordian Farahani, Pedro Pereria and Anthony Putrus – were booked and shown yellow cards.
Despite a defensive second half, midfielder Nolan Intermoia madea an aggressive push forward that caught most of the Menace’s back end flatfooted. Intermoia’s aggressive run resulted in a goal in the 90th minute of play.
The Chill will head back to Chapples Park for another pair of home games on Friday, June 17 and Saturday June 18. The local squad will face the Springfield Demize for both of those home games.
Kick-off for those home games is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
