The Thunder Bay Chill aren’t taking any chances on starting the season cold.

The defending Premier Development League league finalists are taking some of their core players south of the border this weekend for a series against the highly successful Shattuck St. Mary’s team.

Nolan Intermoia, Stephen Patterson and Brandon Swartzendruber are among the returning veterans expected to play in the series, that will also feature a number of Chill reserve players.

The Chill, who lost to Portland in the playoff finale, will open the 2011 season in June against Winnipeg.
