Thunder Bay Chill defender Axel Sjoberg says defence always comes first in soccer.

But on Thursday the Swedish import was recognized for his offensive talent. The 6-foot-7 Sjoberg scored a pair of goals last Saturday to lead the Chill to a 5-2 win over visiting Springfield, helping his club stay perfect at 9-0-0. For his efforts on Thursday he was named to the Premier Development League’s team of the week.

The Chill hit the road this weekend for a three-game trek that will take them to Springfield on Saturday, St. Louis on Sunday and Kansas City on Tuesday.

Their next home-stand, the final regular season games of the season at Tbaytel Field at Chapples Park, are scheduled for July 19 and 20 against Winnipeg.

They’ll also play a friendly against the North American Soccer League’s Minnesota United on home turf on July 23.
