LITCHFIELD, Ariz – Thunder Bay’s Evan DeGrazia is halfway to his goal of gaining status on the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada this summer.

The 23-year-old golfer shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday in his second round at the tour’s latest Q-School Tournament and at the midway point of the four-day event finds himself tied for 30th with an even par 144 total.

The winner of the tournament earns full status on tour in 2018. Golfers who finish between 17th and 40th earn conditional status.

DeGrazia, a Newberry College graduate, has played in four Staal Foundation Open events. He had six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in Round 2.

American Eric Beringer leads the field at six-under 38. David Rose is the top Canadian, one shot back in a four-way tie for second with Americans Alex Springer, Timothy Madigan and Michael McGowan.

The third round is scheduled for Thursday.
