NEWARK, N.J. – Thunder Bay goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood in NHL bound.

The former second-round draft pick was recalled on Monday by the New Jersey Devils, after the team placed long-time starter Cory Schneider on injured reserve.

Schneider, who had hip surgery in the off-season, lost his starting job earlier this year to Keith Kinkaid.

Blackwood, taken 42nd overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, has yet to debut in the big leagues, although he has served as an NHL back-up before.

The 22-year-old sports a 6-7-0 won-loss record with a 2.69 goals against average and a .911 save percentage with the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League.
