Druery's dozen not enough to push LU past Queen's

The Thunderwolves only managed three wins in 16 exhibition contests, and their losing ways continued as the OUA women's basketball season kicked off on Friday night.

Lindsay Druery had a dozen points to pace the Lakehead attack, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the Queen's Golden Gaels, who went on to a 57-44 win.

Kelsey Bardsley had 11 for the Wolves and Sierra Guy also had a good outing, accumulating six points and seven rebounds.
Brittany Moore topped the Kingston, Ont.-based Golden Gaels with 13 points.

"Our defence kept us in it for a while, but when you aren't scoring eventually a run will happen and we did not respond well," said LU coach Jon Kreiner.

"We struggled getting the ball inside with the pass and dribble. Most of our offense was on the perimeter and we traveled far too many times. We missed far too many lay-ups and I felt we bailed out instead of going up strong."
