Tyler Duplantis stands alone in the Thunder Bay Border Cats history book.
Duplantis blasted an eighth-inning grand slam on Tuesday night, his team-record ninth homer of the season, leading the Cats to a 14-7 road win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
The second-year first baseman’s four RBI also set a new Cats standard, his 46 eclipsing the 45 put up by Dan Soukup in 2003 and matched two years later by Matt Mangini.
Soukup also held the previous home-run mark.
Dylan Becker had a pair of bombs for Thunder Bay and drove in six runs, as the Cats improved to 6-17 in second-half play. Newcomer Adam Collins, in his Northwoods League debut, and Dylan Goodwin also hit homeruns for the winning side.
Jordan Church pitched seven innings of six-hit ball allowing four runs, only one earned, to pick up the victory, his first in six decisions.
The Cats head to Eau Claire on Wednesday for a date with the Express.
