Equal footing

The Northwestern Ontario All-Stars and Thunder Bay Kings found their way into the point column Monday night at the All-Ontario Pee Wee AAA Championship. Jared Nensika scored the equalizer at 9:06 of the third period, earning the All-Stars a 1-1 tie.

The Northwestern Ontario All-Stars and Thunder Bay Kings found their way into the point column Monday night at the All-Ontario Pee Wee AAA Championship.

Jared Nensika scored the equalizer at 9:06 of the third period, earning the All-Stars a 1-1 tie. The Kings Owen Belisle scored the only other goal of the contest at 3:27 of the second, firing a high, hard wrist shot past NWO goalie Jacob Parker.

Parker made 30 saves for the All-Stars (0-1-1). Christian Cicigoi stopped 18 shots for the Kings (0-1-1).

Earlier in the day the Kings fell 8-2 to York Simcoe, while the All-Stars were blanked 7-0 by Ottawa.

Other Day 1 action at Fort William Gardens included Nickel City Sons doubling Eglin-Middlesex 4-2 and tournament favourite Mississauga beating Ottawa 4-1.

The Kings take on Ottawa at 2 p.m. Tuesday and host Sudbury's Nickel City Sons at 8 p.m., while NWO tangles with York Simcoe at 4 p.m.
