EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – It wasn’t the start to the second half the Thunder Bay Border Cats were looking for on Wednesday night.

The host Eau Claire Express scored nine runs over a three-inning span against starter Joey Cardamon and went on to down the Border Cats 13-6, a game delayed 85 minutes because of rain.

Spencer Myers was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Express, while Scott Ogrin hit a three-run home run in the fourth that made it 9-5 at the time.

Shane Connahan homered for Thunder Bay in the second, the Cats taking an early 2-0 lead.

Luke Malone took over in relief for Thunder Bay and was victimized for four runs – three of them earned – on seven hits and a walk.

The Border Cats (0-1) and Express resume their series on Thursday night.
