Falcons defence shines in hard court win

The St. Ignatius Falcons defence was four points from perfect on Tuesday. Karissa Kajorinne netted 15 points, 10 more on her own than the first-place Falcons needed as they went on to soundly defeat the St. Patrick Saints 52-4. St.

Second place Sir Winston Churchill eked out a win of their own, riding Anna Kamerman’s 13-point performance in a 30-20 win over Westgate.

Jillian Fazio and Laura Hamilton topped the Tigers with seven points apiece.

Elsewhere Gillian Lavoie and Karis Barrett had a dozen points each to lead the Hammarskjold Vikings to a 49-13 triumph over the 1-12 Superior Collegiate Gryphons.

In junior girls action, Rachel Krukowski’s 12 helped Churchill squeak past Westgate 32-29, Megan Foster had 13 in Hammarsjkold’s 42-11 win over Superior and Amanda Walberg’s eight pushed St. Ignatius past St. Patrick 30-6.

The senior boys volleyball loop was also in action on Tuesday, with Dennis Franklin Cromarty edging La Verendrye 2-1, Churchill sweeping Superior 3-0 and St. Ignatius blanking Westgate 3-0. On the junior boys side it was Churchill beating Superior 2-1, St. Ignatius nudging Westgate 2-1 and La Verendrye improving to 10-2 with a 2-1 win over Superior.
