Falcons, Gryphons open with varsity boys basketball wins

The Superior Collegiate Gryphons and St. Ignatius Falcons kicked off the varsity boys basketball season on Tuesday with victories.

The Superior Collegiate Gryphons and St. Ignatius Falcons kicked off the varsity boys basketball season on Tuesday with victories.

Justin Kundrat scored 27 points to lead the Gryphons to a 60-57 win over the Churchill Trojans, who were paced by Connor Byerley’s 14-point effort.

The Falcons made easy work of the Westgate Tigers, Trevor Luby’s 16 points contributing to a 64-26 triumph.

In varsity girls volleyball action, Superior swept Churchill 3-0 in the season opener, while Hammarskjold edged Dennis Franklin Cromarty and St. Ignatius nipped Westgate by 2-1 counts.
