Falcons whip Tigers on high school soccer pitch

Bronwyn Bolduc, Nicole Dumonski and Jordyn Howie scored a pair of goals apiece Thursday, leading St. Ignatius to a 9-0 romp over Westgate in high school girls outdoor soccer.

Michela Cava, Ashlyn Cook and Shaylyn Uchtenhagen also scored for the first-place Falcons, who improved to 5-0-0 on the season. The Tigers fell to 1-0-4.

The Falcons were equally as impressive on the boys side, knocking off Westgate 9-1. Scorers were not immediately available.
In the fourth cycling race of the season, In the single track event, Hammarskjold’s Deanna Nichols took the senior girls crown with a time of 10:47.78, about 3.5 seconds faster than runner up Krista Pohjolainen of Superior Collegiate.

Camille Hamm of La Verendrye captured the junior girls race, while Hammarskjold’s Laura Inkila took the Grade 9 event.

On the boys side, Colin Pendziwol of Westgate easily captured the senior boys race in 7:32.34, 13 seconds faster than No. 2 Jeremy Pohjolainen of Superior Collegiate. Fellow Tiger Andrew MacLean took the junior boys event, while La Verendrye’s Vincent Girard was the top finisher in the boys race, crossing the line in 9:19.24.
