A familiar face is returning to the Thunder Bay Border Cats and he’s bringing his brother.

The Border Cats announced six signings Thursday afternoon, which included Brett Kay.

In 2011 Kay was named the top defensive shortstop in the Northwoods League, with a .969 fielding percentage in 62 games with the Cats.

A junior from Illinois State University, Kay is coming back with a .223 batting average last season.

His younger brother Cory Kay , a 5-11, 170 pound freshman catcher from the University of Houston, will also be coming to Thunder Bay this season.

He’s hit two homeruns and collected 4 RBIs this spring with the Cougars.

Nashville’s Belmont University has four players going to the Cats. Lefty James Buckelew has a 3-0 record in five games with the Bruins so far this season with a 1.65 ERA.

LHP Dan Ludwig, along with infielders Jared Breen and Greg Brody round out the list.

The home opener is Monday, June 4 at 7:05 p.m. against the Alexandria Beetles.
