THUNDER BAY -- Team Giant Gymnastics had fun and successful weekend during their first competition of the season.

Thirty-six of their gymnasts travelled to the Minneapolis area to compete in six different divisions – Xcel Silver and Gold, Junior Olympic level 6, 7, 8 and 9.

The 28th Annual Peppermint Twist Invitational was selected for the first meet and hosted over 1,200 athletes over the three-day competition.

Not only was the competition populated and challenging, it was fun and entertaining.

Athletes in all six categories brought home medals in all four events, and three First Place Team awards.

The 36 athletes were awarded 135 medals, which are only handed out respectively to the top eight gymnasts, sometimes out of upwards of 30 per age group.

Outstanding performances are recognized as all-around champions in their respective categories.

Giant Gymnastics had an astounding eight first place all around champions, including Kaitlyn S, Hannah P, Alyssa B, Ella M, Grace P, Emily A, Kennedi P, and Ava D.

Not to mention the other 52 top three finishes by the remaining athletes of the Giant Gymnastics.

Giant Gymnastics’ gold team had an astonishing session placing 1-4th on all events and all around, and sweeping the podium on floor with all eight girls finishing 1-8th place, with no other team on the podium.

Huge shout out goes to all the athletes from Giant Gymnastics in the Xcel Silver category on their first meet ever, and coming home with the First Place team award.

Giant Gymnasts are back in action in four weeks when they return to the Hilton Head Invitational in sunny South Carolina!
