Faced with five players suspended for breaking team rules, the Lakehead Thunderwolves still managed to give the Michigan Tech Huskies everything they bargained for on Saturday night.

Twice the Wolves held second period leads, but in then end their American foe was just too strong, rallying with three unanswered goals to skate away with a 5-3 non-conference win.

The Wolves internal issues saw Matt Caria, Ryan McDonald, Jake Carrick, Ryan Magill and Josh Mrakic suspended.

Mitch Maunu and Jadran Beljo were also out of the lineup, having not made the trip south of the border.

Devin Welsh, Derrick Manoulin and Mike Quesnele replied for Lakehead. Jacob Johnstone led the Huskies with a hat trick.

The Wolves head to Duluth on Sunday for a date with the defending national champion University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
