Matt Murray’s first taste of NHL hockey has come to an end.

Matt Murray’s first taste of NHL hockey has come to an end.

On Saturday the Pittsburgh Penguins reactivated goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from the injured reserve list and sent the 21-year-old Murray back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Thunder Bay’s Murray saw plenty of action in nets for the Penguins during his brief recall, posting a 2-1-1 record with a 1.72 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.

Murray is the reigning AHL rookie and goaltender of the year

Fleury was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 14 with a concussion.
