SUDBURY – Krista McCarville won’t be headed back to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts for a third straight year.

The Thunder Bay skip was in control of the Northern Ontario final on Saturday night, leading arch-rival and hometown hopeful Tracy Fleury 4-2 through six ends, but crashed and burned the rest of the way and fell 6-4.

Fleury tied things up with a deuce in the seventh, then stole points in the eighth and ninth to secure a third trip to nationals since 2012.

McCarville, lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and third Kendra Lilly finished second in 2016 at the Scotties and fourth a year ago.
