Foul trouble plagues Wolves

The losing continues for the Thunderwolves women.

The losing continues for the Thunderwolves women.

Carolyn Fragale’s 19 wasn’t nearly enough Saturday night to stop a powerful University of British Columbia Thunderbirds squad, and Lakehead went down to a resounding 107-71 defeat in Vancouver.

Ayse Kalkan and Kelsey Bardsley each chipped in 11 points.

Not adhering to the rules is what cost the Wolves, said coach Jon Kreiner.

"Well we scored enough, but when 36 fouls are called against you and you give up 52 free throws the result is too many points against. Zara was great tonight and UBC was outstanding with their ball movement and made us pay for every mistake. Katie and Carolyn played terrific tonight,  but we must now get ready for a tough Fraser Valley team (tomorrow)."
