There are some people who couldn’t be happier that winter is sticking around a bit longer.

The fresh batch of snow brought to this region over the weekend was just what was needed for a successful freestyle ski and snowboard competition at Loch Lomond Ski Area.

More than 60 skiers and snowboarders took to the sky and grinded some rails at the first ever Loch, Stock and Two Smokin’ Bar Rails event Monday afternoon.

“That’s terrific, we couldn’t ask for anything better,” organizer Brody Hammond said of the turnout from people and winter weather.

Sponsor Kristof Kardis agreed. The owner of the Ski and Board Exchange said the last few seasons have ended early but this year looks to keep going into next week.

“Since mother nature is cooperating it’s time for us to give back just like she’s been doing,” he said. “The kids deserve it.”

“We’ve had a great year. They’ve had a great year. Let’s celebrate.”

The competition awarded prizes for best trick, best fall and everything in between.

“People get judged on style and what looks the best really,” Hammond said.
