HOYT LAKES, Minn. – On a day when Keighan Gerrie announced his commitment to continue his career at Bowling Green University, he showed why he’s attracted so much attention of late from the hockey community.
Gerrie scored once and added three helpers to lead the Thunder Bay North Stars to a lopsided 15-0 win over the host Minnesota Iron Rangers, the team’s 11th straight win and third straight shutout.
The Stars haven’t been scored on in 203 minutes and 15 seconds.
It was a chance for several North Stars players to pad their stats. Jonathan Kilby, Alex Erwin, Ryan Mignault and Joel Willan each netted a pair of goals apiece.
Kilby added a pair of assists joining Gerie and Avery Siau, who had four assists, in the four-point club.
Kyle Auger, Josh Bryant, Brendan Gillis, Mignault and Willan had three-point nights.
Single goals also went to Ben Erwin, Logan Mihalcin, Michael Stubbs, Maxime Fortin, Jayden Mrakic, and Auger.
Dougie Newhouse made 13 saves for Thunder Bay to earn his second straight shutout, his fourth of the season.
Syrjen Amende and Nick Corneliusen stopped 56 of 71 North Stars shots in net for the Iron Rangers.
The North Stars head west on Saturday to take on the Thief River Falls Norskies.
