GUELPH, Ont. – The Lakehead Thunderwolves four-game winning streak came to a crashing halt on Friday night.

Manny Gialdakis scored what proved to be the winning goal with four minutes to go in regulation, leading the host Guelph Gryphons to a 3-1 OUA men’s hockey triumph.

Lakehead’s Daniel Del Paggio had tied the contest at a goal apiece six minutes into the third, after Cody Thompson spotted the Gryphons a 1-0 lead late in the second.

Nic Renyard stopped 34 of 36 shots he faced in taking the loss. Jason Da Silva made 26 stops to earn the victory in nets for Guelph, who also got an empty-net goal from Andres Kopstals with 68 seconds left in regulation.

The Wolves continue their three-game road trip on Saturday against the York Lions.
