Mike Hammond continues to come through in the clutch for the Thunderwolves hockey team.

Mike Hammond continues to come through in the clutch for the Thunderwolves hockey team.

The rookie Lakehead forward, who leads all Wolves in combined scoring this season, potted the overtime winner on Saturday night, propelling his team to a 5-4 non-conference win over Calgary at Fort William Gardens.

Mitch Fillman, Mike Quesnele, Trevor Gamache and Jason Grecica also scored for the home side, who have won 15 of 16 heading into the Christmas break.

Walker Wintoneak, and Mike Jorgenson, with a pair, gave Calgary a 3-1 lead five minutes into the second. Brock Nixon added one before the period was out, making it 4-4 through 40 minutes.

LU next hits the ice on Dec. 29 when Carleton hits the Gardens for the first of two post-Christmas friendlies.
