Hawks PP strikes 7 times in shutout of Falcons

The Northern Hawks struck for seven power play goals Sunday afternoon as they went on to blank the Schreiber Falcons 8-0 in Thunder Bay Jr. B Hockey League playoff action at the Tournament Centre.

With the victory the Hawks now lead the best-of-five semifinal 2-0 heading into game 3 Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Schreiber.

Justin Tougas paced the Hawks’ attack scoring four times on the man advantage while Cary Brown and Brett Biasiol both tallied twice in the romp.

Nick Brimmer and Kyle MacLeod chipped in with three assists apiece for the Hawks who held intermission leads of 3-0 and 6-0.

Eric Rogers turned aside all 18 shots he faced for register the shutout.

Chase Hamilton was peppered with 47 shots in a losing cause for the Falcons.

The league’s other semifinal resumes this evening as the Nipigon Elks host the Thunder Bay Jr. B Stars at 7:30 p.m. at Nipigon Arena.

The Stars lead that best-of-five affair 1-0 after winning the opener 7-5 Friday.
