Patrick Sharp’s 20th goal could be a costly one for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The NHL team on Monday announced the 30-year-old is expected to miss between three and four weeks because of what is officially being termed an upper-body injury, believed to be the result of a slash the Thunder Bay forward took Sunday night against the Detroit Red Wings.
Sharp has been one of the leading offensive producers on the resurgent Hawks, adding 20 assists for 40 points in 42 games this season. After the injury Sharp left the game and did not return. The Hawks have not said how long they expect him to be out, but a story on their official website speculates what the team might do if he's lost to the team for an "extended period."
