The Northern Ontario Hawks are still looking for their first win at the western Canadian Junior B hockey championship in Kamloops, B.C.

They did manage to pick up their first point Friday in Keystone Cup competition.
Four goals allowed in the first period did the Hawks (0-2-1) in against the host Kamloops Storm (3-1-0), who got goals from Travis Blanleil, Bevin Ollek, Duncan Schultz and Alessio Tomassetti to take a 4-1 lead. They never looked back.

Larry Johanson scored the lone goal in the opening 20 minutes for the Hawks. Mitch Marostica and Myles Stevens scored in the second and third period respectively.

In their second game of the day, the Hawks were 3:24 from earning their first victory, but Patrick Tran scored to earn the Tri Town Thunder a 3-3 tie.

Stevens, Ryan Powell and Justin Backor score the Northern Ontario goals.
Next up for the Hawks are the Selkirk Fishermen (1-2-0) on Saturday afternoon. They wrap up round-robin play with an evening match against the Revelstoke (B.C.) Grizzlies (2-1-0).

The top two teams after the round robin will play in Sunday's final. The third and fourth-place finishers will play for bronze.
