The Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team received its ninth commitment of this recruiting year with the addition of forward Keith Grondin of Winnipeg.

Grondin, who stands six feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, played five years of Junior hockey - three in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, one in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, and one in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

His best season was the 2010-11 campaign with the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, where he led his team with 35 goals in 52 games.

Grondin is eager to take the step to the next level.  "I'm very excited to be coming to Lakehead and to play for the Thunderwolves," he said.  "I've heard nothing but good things about both Lakehead University and the hockey program, so it was an easy decision for me to make."

"Keith has earned a reputation as a hard-working, committed team player,” said Wolves head coach Joel Scherban. “He had a breakout year last season in Battlefords, Saskatchewan, and we look forward to seeing him develop further in the CIS."
