Thunder Bay’s Justin Gvora scored a first-period goal and Alex Magera scored the winner, sending the Lakehead Thunderwolves to a second straight loss, a 2-1 defeat Friday at the hands of the host Guelph Gryphons.
Adam Sergerie scored the lone goal for the visitors, netting his 10th of the season three minutes into the third.
The Wolves missed a chance to catch second place Laurier in the OUA West, and remain tied with Waterloo in third.
The Wolves and Gryphons will play a rematch on Saturday night.
