Two in a row on the road was little much to ask of the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
The host Rochester Honkers raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning Friday night and never looked back, scoring an impressive 9-0 win over the Cats, who have won just once in six road outings.
Alex Greer hit his second homerun of the young Northwoods League season and drove in four for Rochester. Connor Goedert had three RBI in the victory.
Border Cats starter Clint Knoblauch was lifted in the third inning, giving up three runs on three hits and five walks.
Reliever Kyle Cornett was torched for four more in the eighth.
The Cats mustered just six hits on Rochester starter Logan Spitzack, who went seven to grab the win.
Thunder Bay wraps up a four-game road trip Saturday against the Honkers and returns home Sunday against the Waterloo Bucks. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Subway Field.
