Hoops pre-season slide continues at LU

A trip south of the border did little to improve the fortunes Lakehead University’s women’s basketball team.

A trip south of the border did little to improve the fortunes Lakehead University’s women’s basketball team.

Kate Warmack had 18 point and nine boards, leading the Bemidji State Beavers to a comfortable 97-61 triumph over the Thunderwolves, led by Carolyn Fragale’s 15.

Despite the one-sided nature of the game, LU coach Jon Kreiner did see some positives.

"The game was back and forth for the first 16 minutes with Druery scoring at will and Fragale hitting big shots. Then Bemidji went on a run to go up 13 at the half with some half court pressure,” Keriner said.

“ Bemidji effectively kept the ball out our posts hands with a zone press and we struggled to hit the outside shot. We really got hurt on the boards and in transition, but it was the best that Lacey McNulty's looked this year which is a good sign.”

The Wolves open the regular season on Nov. 11  in Kingston.
