The Dryden Ice Dogs never led Game 3 of their Superior International Junior Hockey League final until their final shot.
Derek McPhail scored 10:21 into overtime to cap the Ice Dogs comeback and give them a 3-2 home-ice win over the No. 1 seed Fort Frances Lakers.
The visitors twice took the lead in the contest. Bowen Alcock opened the scoring 4:18 into the first, but Dryden’s Troy Williams evened the game 1-1 seven minutes later.
Wyatt Cota put the Lakers back on top early in the third, but the lead only stood for 2:22, Drew Walske tying the game a second time.
Tate Sproxton earned the win in nets for the Ice Dogs, making 27 saves. Nathan Park was saddled with the loss, facing 40 shots.
Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Dryden.
