Joe Ward Memorial schedule announced

The Thunder Bay Junior B Hockey League announced the schedule for the upcoming Joe Ward Memorial preseason tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place between Sept 29 and Oct. 2 at the Tournament Centre in Thunder Bay.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between Sept 29 and Oct. 2 at the Tournament Centre in Thunder Bay.

Action in the four-day event begins Sept. 29 when the defending champion Northern Hawks meets the Thunder Bay Jr. B Stars at 5 p.m.

Game 2 of sees the Nipigon Elks take on the first-year Schreiber Filane’s Falcons at 7:30 p.m.

The second new club in the league this season, the Northern Renegades out of Dryden, will take to the ice for their initial contest Sept. 30 at 12:30 p.m. vs. the Jr. B Stars. Seven other match-ups will complete the 10-game round-robin, which will conclude Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. with the Hawks tangling with the Renegades.

Following round-robin play the final day will feature the second and third place clubs meeting in a 9 a.m. semifinal on Oct. 2.

The winner of that contest will take on the number one seed in the championship game for the Joe Ward Memorial Trophy later that same day at 3 p.m.
