Karlee Jones stands alone atop the Northern Ontario junior women’s provincial standings. One more win and she’s the champion.

One more win and she’s the champion.

The Port Arthur Curling Club skip was a perfect 3-0 on Day 2 of the North Bay event, improving to 5-0 after lopsided wins over Nipigon’s Blair Ball (10-3), Sault Ste. Marie’s Samantha Servant (10-2) and Iroqois Falls’ Kassy Breton (12-5).

Jones will take on Idylwylde’s Kendra Lilly in Sunday’s final. By virtue of her undefeated romp through the round robin she and teammates Sheree Hinz, Victoria Anderson and Grace Esquega will have to be beaten twice for Lilly to be declared champion.

Jones beat Lilly 5-3 in on Friday.

Not to be outdone, Thunder Bay’s Cody Johnston ran through the competition on the men’s side on Saturday, winning all three matches to advance to the junior men’s final on Sunday.

Johnston, who finished round robin play at 4-1, will have to wait to see who he’ll take on. Dustin Montpelier, Rob Ray and Thunder Bay’s Brennan Wark all finished 3-2 and will have to decide the second finalist through the tiebreaker process.

Wark, who started 0-2, also won all three of his matches on Saturday, beating Montpellier 7-5 in the morning draw, crushing Longlac’s Sam Lachance 10-3 in the afternoon and host North Bay’s Ray 10-2 in the evening game.

Wark awaits the winner of Sunday’s first tie-breaker between Montpellier and Ray, slated for 9 a.m.
