THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Kings have announced their initial CCM Hockey quarterly performer award recipients for the 2015-16 season.
Earning the accolades for their on-ice efforts from the four Kings teams are as follows:
MAJOR MIDGET – Jacob Brown, Forward: The 16-year-old forward leads the under-18 Kings in both goals and points in North American Prospects Hockey League play with nine and 15 respectively in 15 games played.
His six assists also ties him for the team lead in NAPHL action while his two game-winning tallies top the club.
Brown also has a dozen points to his credit in Thunder Bay Jr. Hockey League play for the Kings, including seven markers.
MINOR MIDGET – Quintin Loon – Stewardson, Forward: The 15-year-old Sioux Lookout product is currently pacing the U-16 Kings in NAPHL scoring.
He has a team-high nine goals along with four assists for 13 points in 15 NAPHL games.
BANTAM – Keighan Gerrie: The 14-year-old forward is in his first season with the bantams Kings after spending last year playing AA for the Thunder Bay Beavers.
Gerrie is coming off a strong Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury where he led the Kings in scoring helping them advance all the way to the semifinals and a solid 5-1 record.
PEEWEE – Johnny McCollum, Defence: Helping anchor the peewee Kings defensive corps is McCollum.
The 12-year-old D-man is in his first year with the Kings after spending 2014-15 playing peewee AA with the V.P. Bearcats.
His efforts on both ends of the ice helped his team advance to the semifinals of the Big Nickel tourney in Sudbury as well as a silver medal finish in last weekend’s Gales of November tournament in Duluth.
