Lindsay Druery showed why she was the Thunderwolves January Athlete of the Month as the junior overwhelmed the Waterloo Warriors in a 75-62 LU Friday night win at the C. J. Sanders Fieldhouse.

The Smithville, Ont. native had 24 points and 13 rebounds in perhaps her best game of the season.

Emily Ross (Thunder Bay) added 13 points with point guard Tasia McKenna also reaching double figures with 11 points for Lakehead which shot 29-71 from the field.

Stephanie Shea led Waterloo with 18 points while Chelsea Brown, Reanne Holden and Erin Tilley each had 11 points. The Warriors shot 20-56 from the field.

"Lindsay Druery was tremendous tonight,” said Thunderwolves coach Jon Kreiner. “She played huge and was a factor on both ends of the floor. Lisa Styles and Sarah Gordon were very efficient and our team took good care of the basketball. Waterloo was very effective at breaking us down off the dribble, something we need to correct for tomorrow and we need to do a better job defending Stephanie Shea.”

The two teams will square off again on Saturday night with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
