The OUA men’s basketball champion Wolves drew the No. 4 seed at next weekend’s CIS national championship and will take on Trinity Western on Friday in one of four quarterfinal matches.

The Spartans, ranked fourth in the nation heading into the playoffs, lost the Canada West semifinal to Saskatchewan, but earned the lone wild-card spot and the No. 5 seed at the tournament, slated for the Halifax Metro Centre.

As expected, the Canada West champion University of British Columbia Thunderbirds earned the top seed and will take on Acadia, the No. 8 seed.

Carleton, who lost to Lakehead in Saturday’s OUA final, their only loss against league competition this season, grabbed the No. 2 slot and will play Concordia.

Defending champion Saskatchewan, the Canada West runners-up, will play No. 6 Dalhousie, which defeated Acadia on Sunday to capture the Atlantic University Sport title.

The Wolves and Spartans play at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. The winner advances to Saturday’s semifinal, with loser relegated to the consolation round.
